Wood

Rick n Jill have been picking up a pickup load of wood on their way over from SSI, via Duncan, where there is an awesome woodsman located right next to the Duncan recycle and garbage site. Jen n Rick stacked the Dec load, Lars made the temp wood shed.

Visitors

In addition  to all the gals who have dropped by to help Rick clean up the mahogany kitchen shelves, and the neighbours who have dropped by to welcome us, here are a few of the visitors who I happened to have the camera ready to take a few photos. Looking forward to having a house warming gathering!

Teal Bathroom

Teal bathroom cleaned up - Jen removed the wall paper, Rick n Judi scrubbed the tiles n grout with baking soda. Jill replaced the sink n drain (old drain tail pipe disintegrated ), three sinks later the white worked with the tiles. Jill n Rick sanded off the high spots on the textured walls and Frank put a thin skim coat over.

Sewing Room

Cleaning up the sewing room Lars replaced sagging supporting beam with stronger beam, replaced rotten chip board with plywood and repaired leak in the roof that was causing water issues.

Rodent control

The foundation was inspected and only place rodents found a way to enter was around this large rocky area - Lars dug out the rock, we dug down to solid bedrock, built a concrete foundation box, filled it with concrete, Jen n Jill placed rodent proof wire construction fabric over the opening and filled all  possible tunnels with expanding insulation foam. Set traps and left crackers out to see if any rodents were still inside or interested in coming back inside - a month later we are still rodent free. We also trimmed all branches away from the house so they couldn't jump from composting bins up a tree and over to the house. 

Restoring pathways to fireplace room and living room

Pathways from kitchen to fireplace room and to living room were re-opened by Lars they were blocked in 1976-77 - newspaper found in the walls and signs of the original door ways were visible in the textured finish patches. The pathway to the fireplace room was blocked and a pocket window inserted into the wall. 

Master Bedroom Ensuite Bathroom

Cleaned up the master bedroom ensuite bathroom - Lars removed the tub with atypical ceiling height, deep cleaned and drywalled that area, leveled the floor
